Immediate Placement Implants

A cracked tooth or sudden tooth loss is a big shock to patients and an emergency dentist is always on hand so you can make an emergency dental appointment. We’ll explain all your options; live with a gap in your teeth or replace the tooth with an implant, bridge or denture.

Immediate replacement implants mean that at the time the tooth is extracted, we can place an immediate implant and temporary crown. The appearance of your smile is immediately recovered or improved in most situations. New bone fills around the implant as it integrates over the next 3-6 months and the aesthetics are maintained by supporting the gum during healing. This technique is preferred for visible teeth closer to the front of the mouth but may not be possible when there is severe infection or where biting force is strong.

The tooth is removed using a traditional implant technique and the site is allowed to heal for 3-6 months, allowing bone to fill in the extraction socket before an implant is placed. In this situation, while the socket heals and the implant integrates, a temporary bridge, removable denture or clear retainer is used to keep your tooth functioning and you smiling.
